A friend told me she wants better backup lights.
She says has a 2004 Legacy station wagon.

It looks to me like this car uses 1156 bulbs.

So, 796 halogen or Sylvania Zevo LED, right??

Some reversing lamps will look deceptively good from outside using the LED replacements, but I've found in the RX300 that the rest of the body of the 'bulb' blocks so much light that it reduces their effectiveness as far as enabling the driver to see by them. The 796 will provide the reflector and the other optics with a full view of the filament with minimal shadowing, compared to the heatsink of the LED 'bulbs' which means you'll mostly just get the light from the LED facing the lens. This really may depend on how that lamp is set up, I'm not extremely familiar with it but I'm leaning towards the 796 working better.
