Hey guys. Looking for a light for my car that I can wire in to charge. I have a streamlight stinger led with the extra battery and charger. I was thinking about that light again but figured id ask for other options. Looking for $130 or under, that size or smaller. Higher lumens and strobe. I'd like to use it for vehicle repairs as well as walking at night and if need be spotting animals or something, general purpose. Any suggestions?

To clarify, the stinger is attached to my toolbox at home. I was thinking of getting another since I know it can run on AC & DC (the charger) but figured I'd ask for opinions here in case other or better options have come along done the stinger came out.

You can get lights that have built in USB charging that doesn't require proprietary chargers and even micro USB batteries these give you more flexibility. I like an 18650 headlamp with USB charging on either the headlamp or the battery myself as I have a 12V USB adapter and cable so I can charge a battery or headlamp and my phone at the same time.

I have that option but was going to try and do a clean install. Wire the charger directly to my vehicle and have the charger somewhere by the center console kick panel. I was planning on bolting it down. I just need a means of DC charging and a decent, solid light.

As Mr. bykfixer suggested, the Strion, but some other options you may want to consider are:

Maglite ML150LR

Pelican 7060

Pelican 8060

Also as Lynx_Arc wrote consider built-in USB charging:

Streamlight ProTac HL USB

Streamlight ProTac HPL USB
https://www.streamlight.com/en/products/detail/index/protac-hpl-usb

Pelican 7600

ASP XT DF
https://www.asp-usa.com/collections/duty/products/triad-xt

NightStick NSR-9854XL
https://www.baycoproducts.com/product/usb-rechargeable-flashlights/item/nsr-9854xl

All are very bright and have strobe apart from the ASP.

Also many other good options with built-in USB charging from Chinese brands such as Fenix, Olight etc.

Personally after all that I'd stick with the Stinger. lol

To me, the concern would be to thwart the smash n grab thief who may break glass to get to a Stinger. Chances are good said smash n grab thief has encountered Mr Policeman and his/her Stinger retina scorch ability. So leaving a light on a charging dock while away from the vehicle could result in a klepto deciding to take it.

Perhaps mounted on the floor just in front of the passenger seat where it would not interfere with typical foot placement of the passenger yet still grab-able from the driver side but out of sight for the most part to said klepto who only scans potential vehicles for loot very quickly.

I used to leave my doors unlocked so the smash n grab klepto would not break glass. One day it dawned on me (while cleaning up broken glass) to stop leaving items in view of potential theives.

My neighbors security camera has shown a few times a person peering into our vehicles with a flashlight but kept going.
