Greetings, all!

I just got an email from Fenix touting their new 12K lumen LR40R. It looks impressive, but I'd need to see some test results before I'd consider replacing my trusty RC40, which has 'only' 6K lumens but each LED is backed up by a substantial shiny-smooth parabolic reflector.

It's got one led in the middle for throw, then a bunch with small reflectors around the ring. Definitely looks promising with independent controls for the spot and flood options

Ya I was confused when I saw the stats. The highest lumens had only 400 something for throw.

It is something like 1,000 Lumen spot (single LED).

And 11,000 Lumen flood (ring of LEDs).

Switching allow a fair degree of mix (both sets of LEDs on) match (one set of LEDs). Blinky modes are only Flood (as I recall).

Battery life is appropriate for modes selected (1,000 lumen spot only, 7 hours; all leds on ~48 minutes).

A few questions hoping someone knows the answer.

1. Is this basically a replacement for the TK75?
2. Can someone explain why they list the maximum beam distance as 773 meters when the spec sheet shows 640 meters?

Perhaps when both flood and throw are running at the same time, otherwise I'm not sure why the discrepancy

Yes I am waiting for Beam shots. But 640 meters of throw for 7 hours sounds great. And the flood runtimes look great as well.

No, or at least many doubts. I certainly hope not at least. This is a holster carry maximum sized carry light for duty professionals and for hiking and S.R. it is not a large light like the tk75 or rc40.
It Carrie's nicely. It is phenomenal but won't have the throw or runtime of the tk75/ rc40 (r) and IMHO Fenix will come out with a more powerful 8k lumen TK75 in year(s) to come. Maybe even a RC40 upgrade.

This is an incredible light though and fills a void in competative lights Fenix hasn't done in a while.
