Thread: The Light that Made it Home

Default The Light that Made it Home

I regretted selling my HDS EDC lights.
One I sold came home! My buddy told me it quit working. I sold it to him in mint condition, knowing full well he'd put it through its paces on his farm. It came back with the Arc 4 pocket clip and stainless bezel I bought from Lighthound.

Stretched the spring, reinstalled, it fired right up. I'll replace the lens and give it a good cleaning and maintenance.

HDS' engineering and attention to detail even in these legacy lights still gives pause.

Here she is with the recent eBay acquisition.

The prodigal flashlight returns! Looks like it could use some TLC, but owning it would make me proud.

That was the only problem? How, I wonder, did he over-compress the spring?

It had a BUNCH of battery changes. He ran RCRs in it exclusively. He's a candle at both ends guy. Works a day job then goes home and works the farm 'til 10-11 PM

The pictures aren't good. The powder coat is almost gone from the clip. The laser etching is gone. Hard use University.

Glad you got it back. There are two 170 HDs clickys and a very special rotary 250 that I wish I could get back.

This is a thread that has potential. I’m already imagining all the stories of break-ups followed by rekindled love

I cleaned/lubed the threads and replaced the body o-ring. I installed a lens from a NT SPL-120 for now. Laser etching is still there but faint. It started life as a Basic 42 XRGT.
After soaking in distilled water & dish detergent, scrubbing with a stiff bristled brush, and scraping away with toothpicks I've made little progress getting the gunk out of the knurling. Any ano-safe solvent suggestions? I tried Ballistol already with *zero* effect.

I use Isopropyl Alcolhol a lot for cleaning stuff. A toothbrush works well with it.
No damage to the ano, and I've used it on my lights for many years.

I recently had my old Flupic Nuwaii Q3 return home after 10 years !
    Thanks to great CPF member!

Upgraded the led and it’s awesome ! It gets a lot of use for an old light.

Before & after. Note: The light isn't that blurry IRL.

Nice, I'll tell you what'll finish it off is a spray and rub with WD40.
    Works wonders.

Weird, I don't clean anything except my lights. Certainly not the Truck!
