Any thoughts on when the Super Hound Dog will be available again?
Any thoughts on when the Super Hound Dog will be available again?
Well it was quite a while since last restock, if I had to take a guess, it would be that either he has received a stock amount of the machines heads, and has just not assembled them yet or perhaps the next batch is in processing. His custom run times are anywhere from 2-5 weeks. Typical updates are roughly each month, maybe every 3rd week it seems for the better part of the last 6 months.
50/50 chance we see them either in the next 2-3 weeks, or not for a while. I wonder when he plans to switch LED stock, that could change production times too, if he is also going to be clearing out stock of CREE Hound Dog Supers.....

The crenellated bezel looks fantastic! I need to get one of those for my HD.

That XT can throw can’t she? Love mine.
If i had one day left to live i would want to be at my workplace.Because every day is like a frickin eternity.
I kind of like the wider "flats". A little less aggressive so as to not tear up a coat pocket, but could still get the job done.

I agree. I'll admit....the pointy crenelations look much better IMO. I have that style head on my MD2 and I do prefer it so long as its on a light that is clipped. Something that is free floating like a HD with md4 body in a bag or jacket pocket, or a small light dropping into a pocket fair much better for me with wider scallops like that.
Also stands on it's head better. More secure for when I inevitably slam into the desk with my chair!
Lumens factory new SW01’s look pretty cool on Malkoff’s!

Lol yep.

Tomorrow I should get my MD2... The wait has been LONG!!
So today I received my second Malkoff light and first MD2. I chose the M61NL with the SST-20 LED and the high-low ring installed. What can I say.. The mockup I made was perfectly sized (thanks to those who took the measurements for me!), and it really is everything I had hoped it would be!
I'm using the clip without the o-rings because they get squeezed out even with very little pressure and put a roll of paper inside the battery tube (because the Samsung 30Q had a bit of play), it now feels like a solid chunk of metal. Nothing rattles.
The LED's tint is very pleasant, almost the same as the one other SST-20 I have in 4000K. It feels very "analog" because of the lack of UI and switching between high and low can be a little "flickery" if you do it slowly which I love.
The spot/spill ratio looks good to me, but I still have to wait until it gets dark and use it outside to get a better feel for it.
All in all I'm very pleased with the light and it really feels like it's impossible to break it (unless you're actively trying to accomplish just that).

My MD3/M91T work light get used pretty hard on my job. Never missed a beat. She’s dented and Ano is wearing off a bit. That’s about all😁

If I had to give up all Malkoffs except for one, the MD3/M91T would likely be the surviving combo. Good throw, good spill, good runtime with 2x18500, everything good!
If I had to give up all but 1 it would probably be my Zebralight SC64w HI, but that is purely because of its versatility, size and efficiency. In the so often discussed "everything-is-down-the-apocalypse-is-coming"-scenario I'd go for the MD2 because I have a feeling it will outlast the Zebralight easily.
Hound dog supers back in stock grabbed a 6200K

Waiting on the updated MD3/MD4 bodies first. On another note, while the Quake 270 #3 fits the MDX, the Quake 270 #6 fits HD/WC (ranger band or similar required to keep the housing tight to the head).
spoke with Cathy, she has advised me that the machinist is onto making the Crenelated 22.3 Bezels and should be some weeks away, hopefully!.
Malkoff Junkie
That’s great news! I need a few of them.

Time to send more money to Gene and Cathy but can’t decide on m91 vs m61. I know m91’s run on almost everything, but can new m61s do the same under 9v? The only m61s I have left are 4L and I’m just curious about newer offerings. Option of using two aa’s or a single primary is a big plus. Thanks ahead of time for any info.
If the driver hasn’t changed “and don’t think it has” the M61’s will run on 3 volt primary just fine. In fact I wanted to see how good as my 4L m61 were my go to survival/long runtime lights. Every M61 I had Neutral and CW ran longer on a 3 volt then my 4L’s! Did the test several times and it’s right.

The Malkoff Under-Voltage, who knew it could be so vast?!
