I have 2 of the V2 drop-ins. Unless the voltage range and characteristics have changed, it should be fine. I have used them in 2 AA, 1AA, eneloop and lithium primary as well as 1 CR123 MDC and MD1/1.5 bodies. It is true you won't get "full output" on 1 AA. But eneloops have such a cheap operating cost, I find it useful still. Somewhere on her is some runtime info from others that I will find and edit back in.

I have run the M31LL 219B V2 on 1xAA. I get full output (or close enough, anyways), but the runtime isn't great since the current draw is close to an amp.

I like it Neutral! It's a great way to tell, for instance, if that were a specific light you wanted to grab in a given situation. Neat & clean way to make one of them stand out!

hi placing a 219b v3 from the M61T in the 22.3 head, would the ring retention still be the same?.
the ring seems to be loosening up from time to time.
I don't want to over tighten it if that can happen.

    thanks.

Just chiming in with another kudos for Gene and Cathy regarding their *amazing* customer service. Had a hiccup ordering my HD 18650 yesterday, but they both replied, double-checked things, and my order is already on the way! (And ordered in the afternoon, no less.) How awesome is that?!

Now to try and patiently wait for the mailman...

Iím about as far from being a tint snob as they come. Just make it bright, tough and good runtime and Iím in. But I must say my neutral 18650 HD and my M361 W 3000k actually make me understand why others fall in love with a specific tint. They are just awesome!

    thanks.
The MDX 16.5 and 22.3 both use the same retaining ring. I highly recommend the excellent MD2 head wrench. Though the job is easily done with snap ring pliers, it is easier to apply a bit more torque using the head wrench with no fear of damaging the threads.

I wouldn't worry about over tightening. Gene really cranks down on them before they leave the warehouse.

I don't remember it ever being listed on the site, but you can order the 16.5 then send Cathy an email. She will make the substitution for you.

So am I right in saying that ALL Malkoff dropins that came straight from Malkoff are engraved? And ones with stickers were not? Iím going back to the M30 M60 days. Iím thinking they were all made by him just the ones with stickers weíre sold at a different company. For example elzetta. Or am I way off here.

AFAIK, the sticky-label Malkoffs were produced in the Idaho facility; engraved = Gene M in Alabama. Please correct if not completely accurate. Thx,

Shows what I know! I didnít know he had more the one place🤔. I will tell you that my 2 M60ís ď1 etched 1 stickerĒ are worlds apart. One is drawing 100 mah more then the other and one has a ring in the beam and is much whiter and appears brighter as well. Not knocking anything as I use and love them both but they are two different animals. This could also be due to changes that weíre made to the m60 as I believe gene changes his specks from time to time.

The engraved one. The sticker M60 was 100 mah less which is a lot. The sticker one also seams brighter and whiter but it does have a ring in the beam. The engraved M60 has a much nicer beam.

    Cool thread

Not much to say other than had the md2 on the bedside(admittedly with a *beep* load of others)for ages.
Right now has a sportac xhp35 HI in, pared like a dream........great beam and temp with plenty of bright punch.

    Next to an m61

Not unheard of it sporting a triple here and there

    Even a quad!

But too much is wasted with the narrow head opening, so triples are better suited

A little opening of the lock ring will let the more awkward p60's fit(far right)

    Otherwise this will happen

M61 MD2 new owner here, i know its quoted as 450 OTF Lumens but this light has one of best combo throw/flood beams Ive owned.
Certainly appears much brighter than 450 if i run it alongside some of my other lights, its also very close in overall illumination (to my eyes anyway) to some the 1000+ Lumen chinese lights i own.
My only issue is the anodising, i know its supposed to be hard (and one shouldnt really put torch in mouth, old habits die hard) i got a chip in the anodising on the tailcap which must have been done with my teeth.
