Any of the throw modules will lose throw in the 16.5 head. You get a lot of your throw from the outside of the dropin. Found this out the hard way.Never heard that there was anything wrong with swapping in or out of a preloaded head. Canít see what the problem would be. I have done this with my M61T. I put it in my 16.5 because I wanted a crenellated head. But lost throw so had to put it back. Shouldnít be a problem.
If i had one day left to live i would want to be at my workplace.Because every day is like a frickin eternity.

Losing throw was one of my concerns. I also want to go crenulated, what's a good drop-in for the 16.5?

    Default The Malkoff Front Porch

Has anyone tried running a dummy cell at the bottom of a md3 with a flat top 18650 on top?

The button on the dummy cell will hit the bottom of the 18650 just wondering if the spring on the module will hit the top of it

If not I may run 2 imr 16340s with a dummy cell

I used this setup before as I love the feel of the MD3 and was using my M361W as a bedside light. Great combination but had to stop. Was scared to death I would screw up and put wrong cells in and blow the head. And them things canít be replaced 😁

Yep! The MD3 is my favorite. Itís the right length and has. Tremendous versatility. With the M61LLLLí coming in I can run 1/2/3 X123ís
    2X18500
    2XAA
    Spacers needed of course.

Yep. Forgot about them. But with right spacers you can run just about anything. The M91 is the same.they both are true omnivore lights. About the only thing they canít do is run on a single 1.5 volt. But thatís not exactly a deal breaker for me.

Thinking about getting a md3 body, but have concerns on the overall length. Is it to much light for pocket carry?

    Default The Malkoff Front Porch

    I carry mine often

I carry back pocket tho much, as with all my lights

It fits great in jeans back pockets .

And as stated previously itís the perfect hand size light

I thought it was going to be much bigger but was pleasantly surprised at the size when I first got mine.

That's got some length to it. Probably to much light for pocket carry. It will probably serve me well as a property light. It will accept 3 18350's?

If you have a spare Malkoff tailcap put one on top of your md2. Itís so close to that size

I think I'm going to pick one up. If I can't find a use for it, which I doubt. It won't be hard to move.
