My coworker has a Streamlight Super Tac, he wants to know what rechargeable batteries fit in it to replace the cr123 as they are getting expensive to replace. I was hoping 18650s would since every light that I had that uses them you can use cr123.
Chances are that a 18650 will be too fat, it's 18mm diameter and CR123s are 16mm. You could physically fit a 16650 in, but like the 18650 they only supply 4.2 volts aginst 6 volts for 2 x CR123. Two 16340 will also fit, but they supply 8.4 volts.
So it's underpowered or overpowered. Underpowered may not light it up but will cause no damage, overpowered may work or may burn out the driver.
Unless someone has a definative answer it's suck it and see. I can't find anything on the Streamlight site.
This may help a bit... http://www.candlepowerforums.com/vb...c-Can-I-throw-RCR123As-in-this-old-flashlight
All three of my Streamlight lights (a Polytac, an old 6PX 200 lumens and a 6PX Tactical 600 lumens, intended for use with two CR123A batteries) work with a 16650.
