Default Sodas: The Official CPF Soda Thread!

If you like sodas like Coke and Pepsi, with real sugar, Orange Crush, Grape Soda, Green River and so on, I have a place you will love: GALCO'S!

Galco's stocks 500 different sodas from all regions of the county. Root Beer's, Grape, Cherry, Strawberry, Old Dr. Pepper, Orange, Lime, Old 7Up, and hundreds more!

I love Green River, a lime soda from the Chicago area, almost impossible to find out of that area.

No matter what part of the country you are from, there is a regional favorite at Galco!

Galco's is in Highland Park, just North of Downtown Los Angeles, CA.

They will ship to any location. So, if you like great soda, this is the place!

What at a fun place to visit if you are in SoCal!

Check it out! If you love sodas this is the place, plus they have candy that is hard to find!

I used to like Stuarts out of New York. Lots of flavors.

But Hanks root beer is probably my favorite.

When I worked as a barista, we had a big wall of flavor syrups that we'd blend to order with club soda to make Italian soda, something easy to do at home without any kind of machine or know-how. A whole rainbow of flavors to choose from too (pistachio soda? Why not..)

I haven't drank soda since ~2015, but I'll still do energy drinks at work. Tropical/"yellow" Red Bull is a magnificent achievement if you have any taste at all for pineapple..

I’m addicted to ice-cold Virgils Root Beer...and flashlights...
I only fear that if something happens to me, my wife will sell all my stuff for what I told her I paid for it.

Don't even get me started on energy drinks I thought I'd be doing myself a favor giving up coffee. Nah, just found myself pounding down an energy drink in the morning instead.

Red Bull has always been a favorite but I'm not a pineapple guy, so the yellow one never did much for me. Although a few of my friends love that one specifically.

These days I just stick with the sugar free one. If I feel like cheating I'll grab a coconut or orange one.

I served a few traditional sodas in 2 litre bottles at my annual famdamily Christmas gathering and had a 6 pack of Zevia ginger ale cans near some Gatorade zeros. Only the grape 2 litre was opened but the Zevia and Gatorades were all gone. The little kids went for the grape over Dr Pepper, Mt Dew, and other name brand stuff while the adults all went for the no sugar drinks. Kinda surprised me. I thought the Mt Dew at least would be gone.

I replaced my morning caffiene with orange juice. Trop 50 with calcium. No funky after taste and half the sugar of regular oj.

Being southern, the generic term is coke. Lol

Grapico is one Alabama area grape soda that is pretty good. I like Vernors ginger ale. But really like house made stuff at restaurants. Tractor Soda has some good stuff too.

Also love many brands of ginger beer....

When I was a kid my grandma would ask "want a Coke?"... which meant she would bring you a soda. Now that soda may have actually been Coca Cola, but it was more than likely not. It would likely be orange soda, grape, RC or root beer. That was around the time Mt Dew had just hit the scene and every so often it would that.

She called Mountain Dew "Kickapoo Joy Juice" as that was the original Mountain Dew but that one was only made for a couple of years and Mt Dew filled the void.

Left is a 1965 white label bottle, right a still full 1966 yellow label bottle.
Mountain Dew was introduced in 1967.

    +

Picked up some Sprecher Cherry Cola on special price recently,
delicious, with the right amount of cherry & not too much fizzz.

Gives you the sense of what soda should be,

You can buy 4 gallons of concentrate/extract,, imagine a little of that over good ice cream on a hot summer day.

    Good eye sir!!

That is a box from a coffee cup disguised as a 24-70 f/2.8G ED lens.
I stopped using it when the stainless sleeve kept falling out and repacked it in the box.

The wife has the Canon (booooo) version.

On the top of the box is a Tim Richmond bubble gum card from when he drove the #99 Uno car in his rookie season.

My new soda lately has been Fiji water.

I got hooked on Vanilla Coke when it came out. I love that you could buy it in 2 liter bottles and then Pepsi Vanilla came out didn't like it as much but then Pepsi had Cherry Vanilla. Coke came out with Black Cherry Vanilla which I wasn't thrilled about even though I liked black cherry sodas I think the vanilla and it didn't taste right together. I found some generic Best Choice Vanilla Cola and it was cheaper and I liked it better than Vanilla Coke but seems like they too discontinued carrying it. I've looked into trying to add vanilla to colas and found it was too expensive as I'm on a rather tight budget these days. It costs more to add vanilla to generic colas than it costs to buy Vanilla coke. It is sad you can't buy any vanilla colas in 2 liter bottles these days.
