I would value anyones opinions on the UK SL6. I am looking for a outdoor light with a long throw which I assume this light has. But any spillover from the beam would be desired. Is it a very tight beam or is there some desired spillover? If not what light in this approx. price range would fit the bill? I would like to avoid 123 Batteries and stay with either AA,C, or D if possible .

Hello DimBeam,

Both the SL4 and SL6 have a very narrow spot beam with little side spill. I have the SL4. It is great for spotting channel markers, but there is little side spill.

I was told the SL6 is very similar, but brighter.

Great spot light, but little spill.

Thanks for the advice Tom. What would you recommend with more spill?

Hello DimBeam,

The first thing that comes to mind is the PT Surge. Bright long throwing beam with good spill. They have had some problems in the past, but I believe they have been all worked out by now.

But the Surge has one of the worst loading systems for batteries I've seen.
