Sorry, I don't know if this is the right place to ask about something like this, but I'm having a problem with a project and could really use some help.

I am trying to hook a laser "interrupter" sensor to my arduino, the kind that sends a signal when the laser beam is broken. The goal is that I read when the sensor is broken, and something is passing through, and I use the arduino to flip a Relay for 3 seconds to do something else.

So I purchased this laser: https://www.mpja.com/Laser-Opto-Interupter-Beam-Type-12mm/productinfo/34836+HD/

Here is the datasheet: https://www.mpja.com/download/34836HDData.pdf

Now the problem is that I have no idea how this is supposed to connect to the Arduino. There are three cables coming from the receiver: a power wire, a ground wire, and another "output" wire, but as far as I can tell, the "output" wire doesn't do anything. Does anybody know what kind of signal this thing sends out, or what it is typically used in? I have no clue how I can use the arduino to read the output.

Thank you in advance!
