LS flashlight retrofit

Heres a link to a page showing my own use for those happy little Luxeon Stars from gransee...

I've done a flashlight retrofit using a Specialized 6V halogen bike light.
Its amazingly bright... also has 2 setings, High has a 4, 15? resistors in parallel, low adds 4, 68? resistors to the circuit, for 20.75? total resistance...

One question about the luxeons, in bulk packing, how are they mounted on the heatsink backer, strips? or sheets? how many by how many?

Nice! Looks like a prime candidate for a step-down regulator. Then you could get rid of those power-hungry resistors.
