High CRI? All I ever saw was "typical CRI 70" for SBT 90's...

Large die and not much lumen output? Wouldn't slicing a hi cri XHP70.2 do similarly? Altho 2400 lumen is only factory spec I'm sure it could be driven harder.

Nice, a round emitting surface. I'll bet that makes for a great beam pattern in a medium sized something.

    40 bond wires!!! haha!!

I'd love to see the numbers. Really I don't expect much from this old emitter....but I'd love to be wrong about it.

    Numbers tonight for SBT90 G2 5700K De-Lens!

Really want to get one in a larger light if the De Lens is worth it.

It was a custom order. They will go into K75vn and TN42vn.

Looking forward to seeing the numbers for the CBT in bigger lights and the SBT in your modules. You should call the CBT versions of the K75vn and TN42vn the Silver Editions!

OK so I found just a tiny bit of more performance with De lens in P60vn.
I need I need a bigger host for a more accurate testing. P60vn90 heat up quick so its not a good platform to test the limit.

Cool! Looking forward to additional testing in hosts with better heat management.

Oh yea, I would like to see a convoy l21aVN with this new sbt90. I have the w2 version and it’s quite nice. And priced very well too. It should be a budget t27vn and a bit smaller size head. Great heft and heatsink. I think this light would make a great host.

How do you think this in a P60 performs in SLN? All the extra metal of the SLN help with the P60 SBT90?

I'll toss a couple of thoughts out since there are no other comments. The output numbers are pretty awesome as I'm sure you've already seen, 4300L & 70Kcd with 40T!!! W2.1 levels on throw with 4x the output. Perhaps a little better with a DeLens mod which I'm sure Vinh will get around to testing, now that he has LED's again.

..but I think you referring specifically to the issue of heat. I've noticed that even a medium sized light like the K30GTvn gets hot pretty fast. I've run it on turbo for about 90-120 seconds but the head is definitely too hot to touch at that point and perhaps 160°F. If I continue to run the light, the cells becomes warmer than what I'm comfortable with for the sake of perceived longevity. The big difference though is that it's a 3 cell light, which combined, deliver a good amount of current without excessive voltage sag. With these single cell SBT90 lights, even the highest rated cells see relatively high voltage sag and reduced output within a fairly short duration. In some ways the formula mimics these high output 10440 lights, that heat up rapidly but by the time the light's mass starts becoming heat soaked, the voltage of the cell has sagged sufficiently that the light doesn't continue to get much hotter.

I would wager that a really low mass light like the L16vn with (L30 tube & bored out) loaded with a 21700 40T or Molicell could easily get "too hot" or heat up the cell beyond comfort but I think that lights like the G25C2vn90, containing a big chunk of copper and powered by 18650, will probably see enough voltage sag to prevent the light from hurting anything.

Based off of Vinh's torture and heat testing (with other LEDs) I think the SLN would handle the SBT90 very well. I wouldn't be surprised if it could run for several minutes at the highest output, before getting too hot to hold and by that time, even a 40T is seeing a lot of voltage sag. In short, it could probably be run continuously with the limiting factor being the cell temperature. Given all of the output modes available, people like us typically bump down to a lower level long before cell temperature could be a factor. Output figures aside, due to the limited size of the head, the SLN might just be the best performing single cell, SBT90 out there.

Patriot, ty for your lengthy reply. Sounds awesome. I think I may mail my SLN to Vinh for proper fitting of a SBT90 P60, and he can mail it back with the new twisty tailcap all tritted out. Maybe. Sounds like a bruiser! Can always use the clicky to program the VN4 programming.

All p60 size lights including the SLN will not do a SBT90 justice. But we work with what we got. The LED is impressive in any host thats it's in so far. Nutty performance for the packaging.
