Not quite sure where to post this so please move the thread if necessary.
I just thought I'd share something I made with the almighty CPF.
The LED is a Cree CMA3090-0000-000Q0B0A57E
The heatsink is an old Zalman CNPS9700-NT
The Fresnel lens is 50CM diameter 25CM focal length (F0.5)
The frame made by me out of extruded aluminium sections, nuts and bolts.

The result:

And a crop:

The large tree in the lower half of the beam is about 500m from the light and the trees on the horizon about 1250m, measured on google earth.
Reduced the resolution to save bandwidth
Camera is a Canon EOS 6D with a Sigma 35mm f/1.4 Art
The exposure is ISO12800 f/1.4 1/90 processed with DxO PhotoLab to somewhat resemble what I remember seeing

It lights up the clouds too:

ISO1600 f/1.4 1/60 frame from raw video captured with Magic Lantern Lossless 1:1 crop

One last image on low clouds shining out of the upstairs window(typical British weather):

ISO3200 f/1.6 1/60

More pictures and info upon request.

That's a pretty darn good first post, Commander. Welcome to CPF, and glad you shared this beast!

Do I have this right?... a 180 Watt LED? Wheeeee doggie!!! That Zalman has its work cut out for it, and then some... haha.

Sorry guys I didn't think it would be so popular, I got straight to the photography studio as soon as I saw your posts
Taken with a Canon EOS 6D and Sigma 85mm f/1.4 at ISO800 f/4.5 1/250 and processed with DxO PhotoLab

That is really cool! I like how it's made from seemingly random, yet suitable materials from around the house, including the moisture barrier, and scotch tape!...lol. Some of my favorite mods come from this approach.

It's so powerful, it's literally as if it was pulled out of a Batman movie! :twothumbs
