I just replaced the purple LD emitter of my Arc LS with a white HD. I didn't like the projected pattern of the HD+NX05 combination, so i dropped in the Fraen LP optics. Great throw, but no side spill at all.
While looking for a diffusor i found out that the inner part of a Fuji film can cap snaps perfectly into the Arc LS lens bezel! Actually, it's mostly clear plastic, but it's diffusing enough to get useable side spill like LD+NX05.
Plus, you can put color filters or an extra diffusor between the cap and the lens.
I didn't cut off enough of the cap, so doesn't flush with the bezel. But this way it's easier to remove it with my fingernails.

edit: actually it lights the whole hemisphere in front of the flashlight.
