Bykfixer...how about you? This would be nice for your Malkoff collection!

Plus, for all you long runtime Cats this would be for you as the run for a very long time. I had one run three weeks, and I finally turned it off and put it away.

I really like the idea of a hyper red drop-in but would like it in a M31. I'm thinking a VME head on a cr123 body. Maybe the same thing with a UV M31. Either way put me in for hyper red.

Do you mean this? I'm confused by what you are asking.
    dot,

Yes, the Hyper Red. Do you have a count on how many would like one?

    Thanks,

    Lists Updated.

6 are in so far for the Hyper Red M"61" dropin, this would be a cool one.

I guess its hard to even tell.

Neutral- wouldn't this just mean it is a 'wider spectrum' red LED, emitting in multiple wavelengths? From my persusings it seems like people often prefer to have one in a specific wavelength, at least the popular emitters.

Before we even get to what sort of dropin, what LED do we want? This red dragon sounds interesting, I'd toss the idea in for a photo-safe red LED.... what are we thinkin here peeps? Those who originated the idea, what's the ideal emitter?

The HDS HyperRed LED originally was a Red Dragon, but they have found another LED in the same wavelength that they are using now. For me, this would probably be a viable alternative if we could find out what it is. Also, we would need twenty for Gene to do a run.

When you get a moment could you provide a link? I just searched all of his threads going back to around 2016 and didn't see anything regarding red LEDs.

I believe he only does this to show how the different optics mix the 4 separate LED quadrants so you get an idea for the HCRI builds of different CCT emitters (regular white) will blend in use.

They talk a bit on page 2 about red LEDs mixed with an amber LED, but that's not really a HCRI red in the sense where HCRI typically equals 90+, in this case it appears to just be "higher than 0". Plus, the E17/ E21 emitter almost certainly won't fit in the current dropins from Gene, though they would fit in something like the Wildcat V6 head......

If there is something you are referring to that I am still not seeing, please let me know. I did search each page of that thread and read every "red" crtl+F find on each page.

E17A use phosphor converted red. It has much wider spectrum coverage than normal narrow band color LED. We can say that this PC color LED has higher CRI. Under monochromatic narrow band LED, only limited colors close to the emitted spectrum show color, everything else will be very dark or black. Under PC LED, you see more colors.

AH I see that is in his JetU thread, right so sounds like it just emits a wider spectrum of red in place of the more common single wavelength red emitters like in the Zebralight H502Pr. I'm unsure if this is a big benefit, but it's an interesting prospect. Looks like the E17a will fit in a roughly XP-L sized MCPCB so that could work!

hi yes, - I have an AAA Jetu in this Red and I also had the ZL Photo Red, - its hard to tell much difference , but I am sure its there. its very pure red man and clarity is superb. clemence may of course know much more and could probably sort us out with some.
Malkoff comes across raw to me, so I am not sure if this cosy red would be good for us Malkoff Junkies. I dont know.

I have a funny feeling we will be seeing some of that naturally given the new E2XT heads and the new HD 18650 XT. Was actually going to inquire with Gene about the prospects of a new M61/ 91 HOT and see if he'd spill any beans for us...

Is he still doing them manually on a lathe? Or did he get a Cnc?

I remember reading that it wouldnt matter much for a group buy because he was doing them each manually .
