I like the 6 volt 55,000 Lux better also. Yes you shot those pics on a full moon the April 7. How far is it to the tree, looks very close 150 feet or so?

The 6v is the better option.

Thanks, I am thinking I will do my beam shots at about 60-100 yards. I was going to go further, but then a lot of my lights wont reach 200, 300, or 500 yards. I only have one thrower right now. (I am not buying another Chinese made light for the rest of my life.) So I think I will make it much shorter like you did.

Micro thrower.... fantastic setup. Wish I still had a Mcgizmo body to throw this head on. Just sold my last one though.

Yea I bet it looks sick with a McGizmo body!

    @Fish 14: Great! Thanks!

Question: What would be the downside of this setup? E2T/ST/HT/XT/XTD + Oveready E70 body(for 18650) + Z41 tailcap (momentary?)?

Hey that was a pretty dam good review. I would love to do reviews someday. Real world in use reviews. I envision using them on trails and in the woods/fields to give people real life examples of how there lights will work outdoors.A lot of people look at the numbers and Specifications and make a decision based solely on that. Seeing how the lights actually work in real life is often much more important.

I will find out soon. I ordered an E70 last night.

Here's my E2SHT on a oveready E70 with a DPC tailcap. Make sure you order the oveready brass contact washer or the head won't receive the ground needed to function.

I didn't include the washers to last night's order. I bought a couple of them years ago, but didn't find them in my parts boxes.

I guess that's a good enough reason to buy another spare McClicky switch, and maybe one of their tailcaps....though it might be cool to use a DiamondBack tailcap on it.

Id also pick up one of their 5mm battery spacers. Depending on the head and battery you use you may need it. My scout heads and vmes dont work well without the spacer. If you get the 16 or 17mm size instead of the 18mm they can be dropped in from the top.

I ordered two 16 mm and two 18 mm spacers. I also ordered a few frosted UCL lenses, a couple of which will get sanded down to fit into MD heads.

I just looked more closely at the rear interior of the E2XT. The other Malkoff E-heads I own have exposed brass around the perimeter of the rear surface (by the forward-most threads), with potting material surrounding the spring. This surface, in addition to the threads, provides the electrical contact with the body. My E2XD has the potting material covering all but a very thin ring around the perimeter of the rear surface, with potting material reaching the threads for roughly 1/4". Since the E70 has anodized threads, and uses the front surface of the body for electrical contact, removal of the excess potting material by the threads should ensure that electrical contact is made.

I removed the potting material at the threads with a sharp pick, and (tried to) ensure that the material doesn't stand proud of the surrounding bare metal. I don't expect to experience any connectivity failure with the E70 body.

Let us know, because all the MALKOFF E heads I have do not work on a E70 or a MALKOFF 18650 body without that OR washer.

I will have an answer on Friday. Since the entire purpose of the two bodies is to interface with E-series compatible heads, I'm very surprised with your results.

Do the bodies work with Surefire E-series heads, or a VME with M61, or do you not have any of those?

Vme with a m61 and surefire heads work on the e70, I only have problems with MALKOFF heads

Yeah I just tried an MDC HA LMH on an e70 without the washer, no dice

Yup, the head doesn't thread on deep enough.

If Surefire heads work, and Malkoff heads don't then it seems like the issue is caused by the heads, not the bodies.

I just ordered a couple spring washers and a few other small items.
