I recently saw some led light sticks that use red green and blue leds flashing in rapid succession to make the diffuser on top appear white, but when you moved the sitck, it would have an red green and blue trail.
I figured that that would work to make a sort of strobe where anything stationary is white, and anything moving changes between red green and blue.
I am going to use a 555 with some pots to vary the speed, and a 4017 counter to run the cycle. I will use a rotary switch on the 4017 to add an optional strobe to the flash.
What I need help with is what luxeons to use to make a good white, and what to use to drive the luxeons (probably put a transformer in the cabinet so batteries aren't an issue.
Also would it be possible to use a prism to have it set up so that each color eminates from the same spot?
