    Default 18650XT

Wow another amazing bit of kit, ergonomics and build quality outstanding as usual.
No more M61T will put the std M61 head back on the other MD2 body.
5% diffuser pre installed but will try others as well.
I'll get beamshots tonight when out with the hounds.

Night Shots taken with IPhone X with the 1% diffuser, the 5% diffuser cleans up the beam nicely but for me it loses too much lux.

do you think the oslon flat white may happen if we have enough interest?.
maybe we need to join this to the GB sounding thread.

The 18650XT uses the Oslon Flat White emitter. Itís basically an E2XTD in Hound Dog format. It seems to be direct drive but Iím not sure about that.

Considering what you get in the package for the price, itís a good value compared to the E2XT heads alone if you donít mind the larger form factor and donít want it for weapons use (though you could mount it with a 1Ē ring mount). In exchange for the larger size, you get high/low functionality, native 18650 support, and greater lux with the larger optic.

Do we know this for a fact?

You can see it clearly through the optic of the 18650XT. D0305 J2H1 is printed on the emitter beside the phosphor for what that is worth. I could be wrong but the only occurrence of that nomenclature that Iíve seen is on the Oslon.

Ok if lines are 10 feet long and thereís a 21 foot gap in between thatís right around 200-220 feet. Not bad

    CSLNM1.TG or CSLPM1.TG? ["white 1" or "white 2"]

Itís hard to tell with the distortion/magnification of the lens but I think itís the NM1 based upon the proportions. Looks like the 1mm square.

It will reach further than that but further up that bike path at night gets dodgy, lux is down with the diffuser but the beam shots i posted are 100m approx, i'll go back there tonight with no dogs on the straight section and measure it more precisely.

That about sums it up nicely

Since this is a direct drive head (such high lux means it is i guess) i tried 2 different 15A 18650 and get a noticeable increase in performance and of course heat.
The supplied KP will keep it running fine without getting too warm.

Went out tonight with a 15aH battery with the 1% diffuser, huge difference.
Measured 180m throw but that was the longest bit of straight bike path on that section, still plenty of light left in the beam.

I'm surprised output increase from high drain cells is visible. I remember testing them with my standard 18650 HD when it was first released. I could measure the increase, but I don't think I could see it.

When I get one, I'll certainly be using it without a diffuser.

Just out of curiosity, are the rings in the beam the same color? In your pictures there doesn't seem to be much change at all. No ugly purple or green.

I've never seen an optic-based light with different colored rings....just alternating light and dark.

Getting a dedicated thrower and worrying about artifacts on a wall 10-20 feet away makes no sense to me, but maybe my thinking is different from most. But ya when I get this I wonít be needing the diffusers looking to get throw. What I would LOVE is a comparison between standard 18650 HD I think is 30,000 lux and this bad boy with no filter on it. 3 times the lux is huge but really want to see what Iím getting before I do.

I noticed last night that they're 5700K (I think), so I won't be waiting for a neutral version. I also noticed that they're in stock and on sale.

    Well......I'm weak.

I don't have a private location for outdoor beamshots, but I can compare throw between it, the 18650 Hound Dog, and the Hound Dog Super. I'm sure the E2XT will also going along for the fun. I found a soccer park in the area that allows for distances of 300 + yards, which I can confirm with a range finder to hopefully determine real-life max usable throw.

Yes. Yes I am lol. I love my 18650 HD. Itís neutral and love the beam. But my love for this light goes way beyond tint. I love the size the output and the ability to have this light and just a couple extra cells and know you have 3 hours or so of full power is great. And now the the lux has tripled! Well thatís just a bonus.Another thing I like is that on low and I ran mine I think for something like 48 hours itís still a very useful amount of light. I found I could easily walk in the woods with it. 90,000 canít wait.Malkoff has a beamshot at 150 yards. Iím pretty sure my HD would not be useful at that range.it would light stuff at that range but not enough to see whatís going on.

That would be awesome thanks! I have a football/soccer field less then1/4 mile away thatís where Iíll be testing mine.

Not as obvious on high but most definitely there, on low the difference is so obvious you would have to be blind not to notice it and low throws nicely as well.
Dont forget this is with the 1% diffuser which according to Malkoff website drops the cd from 90k to 70k.
