Any development to push 16340's capacity?

Are there research to squeeze more capacity to the 16340?

We have noticed that other battery form factors have increase there mAh capacity. 14500 now has 1000mAh or even 1050mAh. 16650 has been pushed to 2500mAh from previous 2000mAh for 25% increase.

Meanwhile, 16340 seems to lag behind from around 700-750 to just 800mAh.

Yes, it would be nice to see an INR version.

I'm sure there's zero research into 16340 specifically. Any research for increased capacity is only happening with 18650 and 21700. Some of those improvements can be used in the other sizes, as long as the small Chinese factories choose to use them. That's the only place where the odd-sized cells are produced, so there's not much incentive for them to innovate.

Also, there is not a lot of demand for 16340 cells, so it would take a long time to recoup the development costs, especially since the cost of materials would also be higher.

Any development to push 16340's capacity?
