I'm using the Air Card (555, I think) wiith Verizon as the carrier. I've had it for a couple years, without issue.
T-Mobile has some good Data-Only rates (Like $20 mo/unlimited) or you could get one of their phones with bluetooth (The Sony Ericsson T610 is the one I have and love) and use that with your laptop. Get on the internet from your cell phone that's sitting in your bag, what's not to love about that?

I believe T-mobile has free gprs with every calling plan. Use bluetooth or a data cable to connect to your laptop and you're able to surf. It has to be the best rate (free with phone service), and the coverage should be pretty good. But it's slow, feels like my old 19.2 modem...
