Using IE, is there a way to disable the flash plug-in and only enable it at will? If not and it is uninstalled, is there a way to stop web sites from requesting it. Please don't tell me to use an alternate browser, this is for at work where like it or not, MS is the only game in town.

Internet Options>Security>Custom Level...> now, scroll almost all the way to the bottom and you should find a subject called "Active Scripting". Disable it. This should stop pop-ups, java and SWF objects. However certain web sites will not function correctly with this disabled, so remember to re-enable it for those sites. I hope this helps.

<EDIT> Also some of the software firewalls have the ability to disable embedded objects, such as ZoneAlarm Pro.
