Hi all,
I have a "Wave Light" as manufactured by American DJ a dozen years ago, with a "W" shaped glass bulb around an 800W filament mounted on both sides with two posts going into a rotisserie mount. It spins in both directions to the beat of music or feels the beat through an XLR (DMX.)

https://www.smartdj.com/American-DJ-LL-JS800-Replacement-800W-Wave-Light-Bulb-Lamp.html

This bulb worked until a couple of summers ago, when it was extremely difficult to find a replacement. That replacement has now gone out and it looks like it has become truly impossible.

I set up a saved search on Ebay in case some new old stock pops up, but in the meantime I am investigating the possibility of putting LEDs in this otherwise operational appliance. Is it as simple as creating two post mounts on either side and zip tying together two strands of LEDs? Would it be possible to create enough light to throw about 15-20'? 800W is a lot - Which is why it would be really cool if I could get brighter light from this while cooling it down, which is what LED retrofitting is known for.

- How to choose which LEDs will agree with the appliance's connections? (If a ballast/power step down is required it's probably a dealbreaker)
- Are there LED solutions that project bright light in all directions?
- Are there LED solutions that focus bright, narrow light for over 15'?

Thanks for your time,
Leon

Hi Leon, I did a little more searching and these folks claim to have that lamp in stock at $19.95. Check them out and if in stock I myself would buy 2 or 3.

Good luck in your quest.
