Hey guys,

Committed the unthinkable and got my Surefire L1 (gen6) bezel apart. Got the bottom ring off. Hoping to find that nice clean LED die spot where I can remove the old (XPG?) and drop a nice XML2 or XPL2 in there.

When I got the bottom ring off, there's just a little plate and some wires, looks like it's attached, I don't want to destroy it. Any ideas on how to proceed? Who's done this before? I hunted around and looked for a pictorial, seems like something we would have already done around here, but don't see any.

(I can shoot a picture in a bit)

DON'T TOUCH THE BOTTOM PART!!!

Use heatgun to warm the bezel ring on top and using 2 pliers (protect the anno) unscrew it.

Playing with wires on the bottom may cause conntact loss.

Emitter is XRE and you will need tiny die emitter like Osram White1 or Nichia E17 to get what you want but with decent beam
