Xtar PB2 circuitry upgrades/changes?

I have owned two of the original PB2 units in the past that both failed in under two years. The first one stopped charging my phone after charging for about 2 seconds. It would just stop and act like it wasn't plugged in. The second one recently stopped working too though differently. This one also won't charge but has a burning smell and the LED numbers are flashing chaotically. I am afraid to even try to use it as a battery charger. I tried different batteries and cords all of which work fine in other applications.

I really love these things when they work and want another one. Do these newer ones (PB2s) have different/upgraded circuitry? They display more information than the old ones which only showed relative battery charge percentage and weren't very accurate at that.

I also see that there is a PB2c also and I am not sure the difference.

You could always consider PB2S?
It's physically larger, but will also do 21700-cells, which is very nice to have, IMHO.

Any alternatives to the PB series?

Just their traditional dedicated chargers with USB out, which there are many.

I ordered and PB2S off of Ebay, but it's on a slow boat from China, so probably two more weeks.

Ordered/received two Samsung 50E 21700s for it, just to test things out.

I'm good on this stuff, but I had to shop 'til I dropped, once my Trump Bux arrived, lol.
