Since it looks like Gene is not going to make an Anti-Roll head for the MD body series, I thought I would take a crack at it. It was a fun after noon project....come on a journey with me.

Some 1.25 flat to flat hex stock

Matches up well to the side of a MD head.

Bore it out...

Bore out the area to engage the oring

Run in a big ole' tap.

And we have a passable head, with the same double groove that the MD heads have, to pay homage to the original's style.

break all the edges and compare it to the original.

And do a quick function check.....it works....and it does NOT roll.

That looks amazing!! Are you going to round off the hex part near the lens? Also, how long til these are available for sale?? :grin2: I love your MD1 and 1.5. I use the MD1 Every day for work with a high low ring I customized and one of the M61 219 drop ins. Pure awesomeness!!

Very neat project. Wish I had machining skills to just make cool stuff!

Pretty sweet! In addition to anti-roll, I wish the MD head accepted a SS bezel ring. Possible to add SF type threading to the front?

That'd be sweet. Like a hybrid between malkoff and surefire bezels.

You know call me crazy but I would like one in SS. Heavy as hell but that would be fine with me.

good job , why you don't turn it black?

To turn it black (anodize it) I usually use a plating shop. They charge about $1 a part with a minimum of $75 to do any batch. Since I only have one part it would cost $75 to get it anodized. I could paint it, but the paint will wear off very quickly with the use it would see.

If I make a run of them, then I would get the whole batch hard anodized. That would lower the cost per piece to a reasonable amount.
