What is a \'Feeler\' Post

Hi All:

I've seen tons of posts recently that start, "Feeler:..." or "... Feeler". Could anybody tell me what a 'Feeler' is.

It's basically seeing if there is an interest in doing something.

For example, say someone was going to buy a certain kind of widget, but could get it cheaper buying 50 or more of them. That person might put out a "feeler" post to see if anyone else was interested in that particular widget. If enough people were interested, they could propose a group buy so everyone could get in on the cheaper price.
