Would this be a bad idea? maybe melt the light? The hellfyr uses the osram 250watt and is said to not get very hot at all. I would be using this for casual work running for 5-10mins max at a time with my own step up converter or high voltage lifepo4 pack i would assume.

thanks

Hi Bush rat, welcome to CPF.

I don't own the spot light you are talking about but do own a cheaper lightforce spot light running a 64665 bulb. The lightforce has a plastic body/reflector and plastic lens which means I can only run it for about 30s bursts. I know this because I melted my first one.

I checked the info on the hellfyr spotlight, they claim all metal construction and a glass lens. If you check you're light and it has a proper metal reflector, glass lens and ceramic style bulb holder then I would say go for it.

Start at 1min and build your run time up, keeping a close eye for any sign of heat damage to reflector .

Is the hellfyr light good quality as I might be interested in buying one for myself as an upgrade to my lightforce .
