Yeah, that's not proving to be real helpful didn't turn up anything specific. Maybe someone that wants to put in the time might buy it. Good luck.

How does one check the generation?

Don't know if this helps but I owned one of these many years ago and it DID NOT have a strobe mode.

This one is just low, like reading a book or map level low, and HIGH STROBE. Like disorienting high strobe. Excellent condition, good clicky, nice crenellated bezel.

Is it possible the strobe is a low battery indicator? There is some forum discussion along those lines. Search "surefire defender with strobe" and you will find the threads.

Apocalypto, Interesting possibility. Checking now.
EDIT: you are correct, the batteries were low, causing high to strobe. Now the light is low/ high; and high is very bright. OP updated. Thanks!

Price drops.

The Scorpions are very nice and very cheap.

Got the adapter few minutes ago. Interesting design. Thanks for the super fast delivery as usually. I had KX2C for L4. When I put this head to E1L w/ 1xCR123, it blinks. Some Surefire led head driver can't tolerate low voltages.

You are confirming that a 2 battery LED head will blink on a one battery body? Good to know! Didn't realize that that was a thing with Surefire LED heads.

Price drops on the four Streamlights.
