A good example of why you should always have a second light. I think that it was likely just an issue of getting the thing put back together properly. Maybe the contact surfaces just needed to be cleaned. Perhaps the battery wasn't making contact. A few of my lights require barely a quarter turn of the tailcap to break the connection and render them useless.
