THE PACKAGE and ACCESSORIES:

The Nitecore P20 V2 arrives inside a dark colored cardboard box with the classic writings that report the main characteristics that distinguish it. Inside the package, in addition to the Nitecore P20 V2, we find the Clip, the NTH20 tactical holster, the adapter for CR123, the lanyard, two spare O-rings, manual and warranty.

The NTH20 Tactical Holster, designed in particular for law enforcement, brings an even faster extraction of the torch from the holster compared to the previous NTH10. The NTH20 is made of rigid black plastic, has 4 adjustment points according to the width of the belt and allows full use of the P20 V2 even if inserted in it.
The NTH20 is compatible with the "MOLLE" system.

Another useful accessory, included in the package, is the CR123/RCR123 battery adapter called NBM1618.

The stainless steel Clip, included in the package, allows easy insertion into jeans. It can be inserted on the torch in several positions even with the Nitecore P20 V2 inserted in the NTH20 tactical holster; it also allows you to insert a lanyard into its two slots.

As previously mentioned, Nitecore P20 V2 is compatible with the Tactical Ring NTR10. The slots on the body allow the flexible insertion of this tactical accessory, according to the user's hand, allowing a unique and flexible way to use the flashlight.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Nitecore P20 V2 has good build quality, good thicknesses and no construction residue. Beautiful tail with the tactical button clearly visible. The dimensions are compact (149.4 mm in length) and the torch holds very well in the hand without having excessive weight (135 g). It is made of aluminum alloy with anodized finish, glossy black, hard military type; good coating. It consists of two parts: head with body and tail. The writings on the torch are well made and legible.

On the head of the Nitecore P20 V2 we find a SMO parabola with the CREE XP-L2 V6 LED in the center. Glass and parabola have anti-reflective treatment, crystal coating and with PDOT (Precision Digital Optics Technology). Nitecore P20 V2 is equipped with an aggressive bezel (Strike Bezel) with 3 high hardness silicon nitride ceramic balls that allow quick and simple use for personal defense or for breaking a glass with a smooth surface to avoid scratches accidental damage to clothes or backpack.

The central body of the Nitecore P20 V2 has a rhomboidal non-slip knurling in the lower part. The spaces for inserting the supplied clip or the Tactical Ring Pro accessory are clearly visible.

In the lower part we find the threads that arrive well lubricated and being anodized they allow, by slightly unscrewing the tail, the mechanical locking of the torch. There are also two sealing O-rings for protection against water and dust. At the two poles, for contact with the battery, we find a double spring plated to the negative and a spring and button system, anti impact, to the positive which has the purpose of preserving the torch against reverse polarity. Nitecore P20 V2 only accepts batteries with the Button Top.

The only unscrewable part of the Nitecore P20 V2 is the tail cap. On the tail cap the rhombus knurling is similar to that seen on the torch body. There are no holes for inserting the lanyard.
Tactical and modern design of the tail with the two switches. We find the mechanical tactical button to turn the flashlight on or off equipped with the "momentary on" function. To operate it you have to make a fair amount of force and the click is noisy. Next to this we find the electronic selector with second generation "Strobe Ready" technology. With this we will vary the three available levels and instantly access the special "Strobe" mode.

Near the two switches there is a notification LED that will indicate the battery charge status. By inserting a battery and screwing the tail cap, the indicator on the tang will flash in red to inform you of the remaining charge:

1. Three flashes indicate a charge greater than 50%
2. Two flashes indicate less than 50% charge
3. A flash indicates that the battery is about to run out

User Interface (UI):

Nitecore P20 V2 has two tail switches, one tactical and one for changing levels with instantaneous activation of the Strobe (Strobe Ready).
With the Nitecore P20 V2 we have 3 Operating Modes: Daily Mode, Tactical Mode and Law Enforcement Mode. Depending on the chosen mode, different levels and brightness will correspond.

Tactical Momentary Illumination
Half press and hold the Power Button to turn on the light momentarily. Release to turn it off.

On / Off
On: When the light is off, press the Power Button until a click sound is heard to turn it on.
Off: When the light is on, press the Power Button until a click sound is heard to turn it off.

User Mode Selection
The P20 V2 provides 3 user modes for different users and situations.
• Tactical Mode (Mode 1): In this user mode, only HIGH Level and STROBE Mode are available. It will automatically access HIGH when reactivated.
• Law Enforcement Mode (Mode 2): In this user mode, there are only 2 brightness levels (MID of 200 Lumens and HIGH) and STROBE Mode available. It will automatically access HIGH when reactivated. When the light is on, short press the Mode Button (STROBE READY™) to switch between HIGH and MID.
• Daily Mode (Mode 3, Default Setting): In this user mode, there are 3 brightness levels (LOW, MID of 370 Lumens and HIGH) and STROBE Mode available. When the light is on, short press the Mode Button (STROBE READY™) to cycle through the following brightness levels: LOW – MID – HIGH. The P20 V2 will memorize and re-access any of the 3 brightness levels or STROBE Mode when reactivated.
Note: The P20 V2 will automatically lower its output to avoid overheating and prolong the lifespan of the battery when accessing the HIGH or MID Level for over 2.5 minutes.

To select a desired user mode
1. Ensure the light is turned off.
2. Loosen the tail cap.
3. Keep holding the Mode Button (STROBE READY™) on the tail cap while simultaneously tightening the tail cap.
4. Once the tail cap has been tightened, the LED will indicate a user mode selected by flashing once for Tactical Mode, flashing twice for Law Enforcement Mode and flashing three times for Daily Mode.
5. To cycle through all 3 user modes, please repeat the above procedures.

STROBE READY™
• When the light is off in any user mode, press and hold the Mode Button (STROBE READY™) to access the STROBE Mode. Release to turn it off.
• Tactical Mode: When the light is on, short press the Mode Button (STROBE READY™) to access the STROBE Mode. Short press the Mode Button (STROBE READY™) again to return to HIGH.
• Law Enforcement Mode & Daily Mode: When the light is on, long press the Mode Button (STROBE READY™) to access the STROBE Mode. Short press the Mode Button (STROBE READY™) again to return to the previous brightness level.

Power Indication
When the battery is inserted, the power indicator located on the tail cap will flash to indicate the remaining power of the batteries:
1. Flashing three times indicates that the power is above 50%;
2. Flashing twice indicates that the power is below 50%;
3. Flashing once indicates that the power is near depletion.
NOTE: As a precise power reading is required, please ensure the P20 V2 is powered down for at least 20 seconds before tightening the tail cap for this function.

BEAM and RUNTIME:

The beam of the Nitecore P20 V2 has an irregular uniformity due to the shape of the bezel. Away from the wall this shape is not particularly noticeable. Discreet shot while the tint turns, at the edges of the spot, on the green until it reaches violet. Moving away from the wall these changes are less noticeable even if always present. To the eye I do not see any significant PWM. The start of the spill from the walk is over one meter.

The Runtime were done indoors with an ambient temperature of around 26 ° C using a fully charged 3400 mAh Nitecore 18650 battery. Nitecore P20 V2 seems to have a semi adjustment. The manual indicates the descent of the light intensity, in High and Medium mode, after 2.5 minutes to avoid overheating the LED. When the battery is exhausted there are frequent flashes for a few minutes.

One test I wanted to do was to turn the P20 V2 off and on again after 70 minutes of use in the 1000 lumen high level. After 70 minutes the value indicated by the Luxmeter calculated at 1 meter was about 2900cd. Turning on the P20 V2 again we started at around 9850cd.

"I want to clarify that the values expressed by the graphs must be taken, above all, as a reference because they are made with means and environmental conditions different from those used in the laboratory".

CONCLUSIONS:

Nitecore P20 V2 is a tactical flashlight indicated in particular for personal defense and flexible in use also thanks to its accessories such as the NTH20 tactical holster supplied and the Tactical Ring Pro sold separately. The aggressive Bezel and its "Strobe Ready" technology make the P20 V2 suitable for defending or offending in case of need. Nitecore P20 V2 is mainly powered by a 18650 battery but has the possibility, through its adapter, to use 2 batteries in CR123 / RCR123 format. The Runtime is good and the tint of the light beam I would have preferred colder was discreet. Excellent user interface with the possibility to choose between 3 different operating modes for greater flexibility. Finally, complete the package with the new NTH20 tactical holster and the CR123 Battery Magazine. Thanks for reading the review.
