An interesting macro view of PM scan lines...

Please stay with me on this. I'm getting to the PM effect, promise...

My pond has a green, floating Chlorella algae. I didn't know what type of "pond scum" this was until I rubber-banded a 17x loupe over an iPhone XR lens and imaged these small particles on various materials so as to see them better. I shot them on a black surface and then on the clear lens of a Manker E14II with 4 Nichia 219c's on a 120L level. Some PM was seen only at a higher camera angle...

PM scan lines when the camera angle (>60d) was more vertical over the LEDs...


I thought it was unexpected and interesting that the PM of the Manker only caused 'interference' with the scan rate of the iPhone camera at a higher angle...

Interesting photos in of themselves. Are you speaking of Pulse Width Modulation? Hopefully someone comments here about the angle issue.

Yes, sorry - I did mean PMM.
I get confused because I have three daughters and the prefix "PM " brings me up short and frightened at times...

Is your E14 II quad 219c a Vinh mod?

Same shutter speed at both angles?

Very cool considering the use of a jewelers eye loupe jerry rigged with rubber bands

With 219c's peering in background it looks like something from the Outer Limits

Yes, you can see the pink coronas on these as well...
