Thread: Chrome or Tapatalk popup

  1. #1

    Default Chrome or Tapatalk popup

Lately when I click on some (not all) threads I get a popup asking if I want to proceed using Chrome or Tapatalk.
Does that signal the thread was started with Tapatalk perhaps?
I do not have the Tapatalk app on my iPhone so I was just curious.

My understanding is that the official CPF app is built on an underlying Tapatalk "core"

Last week, the workplace lost WiFi due to lightning (the office said) but we could use ethernet hard connection. I pulled out an older Mac that had an ethernet port, then when break time came around began a perusal of CPF; that same tapatalk option came up for every thread chosen to view. Lunchtime brought restoration of WiFi, and my usual computer was CPF normal.

The CPF mobile app is on a Tapatalk platform. So when you access CPF on your phone, you are given the option to use your browser or the mobile app. I have no idea why this would happen on a NON-mobile device. And I cannot reproduce it. So I'm going to guess it's something on your device.

    Thanks.

It just started happening about a week ago. And it seems to be a random thing.
I did not know the official mobile app is on tapatalk as I use the apple version. And I really like that one, yet choose Chrome mostly.
    Stockholm syndrome perhaps?

    Yup!

FWIW... I *DID* update the Tapatalk plugin for the forum last week. Maybe there is something in the update that is doing that? - Again, I can't reproduce it on any of my devices so I can't even begin to tell you what exactly it is.

It hasn't done it since I started this thread.
Hmmm, I never could (as you say) reproduce it either.

FYI, I use a bookmarked link to enter the site so I had never seen the option before. I thought perhaps good old googoo was trying to think for me again. Example I type the letter R in my search bar and before I type any other letters chrome is guessing I'm looking for a Pelican flashlight or a Craftsman screwdriver……

    Thanks for the input.

It's doing it on mine recently too. It is also random. I'm on an android using bromite browser (chrome varient). It had me a little concerned.
