Fixing Solar Storm X2

Morning all,

I come here with a broken (I think) bike light.

I am a flashlight dabbler (couple of maglights, 2× RV Aurora A5s (lost or killed) and A8 (not yet lost). I know my way around basic electronics / can solder / have a DMM etc.

I dailyed two sets of the ubiquitous Solar Storm X2s for MTB riding in around 2017 - 2019 with occasional use since then. Both worked fine when put away to my knowledge.

This morning I got them out for a cargo-bike run. I found one light worked fine, and one seemed to be faulty as it didn't respond to the button. The three green lights lit up, but button presses did nothing. Same battery was used for each.

Before I pop it open (there are two screws that look to be the entry point) - has anyone had experience of this fault? Any ideas what test methodology I should use/ what I should look for?

Kind regards,

Steve

Fixed:

Quite simple, the switch was bent so it was clicking without making contact. Bent it back, job done.

If it worked well when put away I's suspect corrosion. Possibly an easy fix once you get it apart.
