When we're on the boat, the pace of activity is predominantly dull but spikes greatly when there's a fish on. An ill fitting headlamp is an impediment to the process of landing the fish. I used to try to find the brightest headlamp available but have found that a faulty methodology. Comfort is king.

You want to find a lamp with proper fit for you, light emission is a distant second and will be adequate in any headlamp sold in the last 15 years. Some prefer the head strap that goes over the top of the head, for me it isn't comfortable, I just like the single headband. My friend and I are using Petzls with three AAA. Fairly inexpensive, light and effective. Be cautioned the bands will give out in about a years time.

What type of output/runtime balance would be indicated? My gut reaction is either a thrunite th20 or the acebeam h40 (or is it h30? Which ever is AA). Very light and compact.

Plus the cost isn't too great if they get lost in the drink.

what are the requirements for lighting for seafishing at night

probably you'll need some throwy beam?

dark water absorbs all light, so no chance, i gave up.
