I can't get unprotected 18650 such as Panasonic NCR18650GA, my favorite red cell, to fire in my 18650 HD using a clickie as it's not long enough to reach the clicky.

It does work well with the Z41 twisty.

I can only use protected cells as they are considerably longer and just long enough for the Malkoff clicky tailcap.

I tried stretching the spring in the module to no avail. Interestingly, unprotected GAs work well in my other MD2 lights, such as M61T MD2.

I prefer using non-protected cells as they slowly decline versus having a sudden cut-off but this is only possible in a single-celled lights.

Nope, no way. I have some protected GA (3500 mAh panasonic cells) that are protected, it's the "red" cell but cannot figure who the maker is. They fit rather well.

That seems odd. I've never had a problem using unprotected 18650s in a Malkoff host, to inlcude an 18650 hound dog.
