Hello everyone,

Looking for any information on 1000watt MH HID bulbs, specifically mfg. arc length specs/data.

This will be for a 24" parabolic reflector searchlight similar to the LightSward project, but with an Edmund Scientific reflector. I've been down the rabbit hole on that thread, and "The Big Ones" sticky in the General forum. But both are 10+years old and none of the links and references are really that valid anymore. Plus, LightSward never installed a 1000watt MH HID in any of his projects that I can tell. He jumped straight from 400w MH HID to short-arc. So, here's what I need:

1000watt MH (mercury Halide) HID (i.e. a warehouse/ballfield lamp)
Universal Position
Preferably a Mogul M39 or EX39 base
110,000 or more initial bulb lumens
powered by an ANSI ballast (this is critical!!!!)
SHORTEST ARC LENGTH POSSIBLE WITH THIS COMBINATION

1000w/MH/HID/U lamps don't typically list their arc lengths. I've found a few, but they're in the 93-94mm range. LightSward indicated in his post that he found some as short as 26mm arc length. But I can't find any mfg. specs for that. Any ideas?

...and yeah, I know Osram makes some awesome short-arc lamps in the 1200watt class. But those aren't approved for ANSI ballasts. And I do not have the cash for a 1200watt electronic ballast. Not even the Chinese ones. And a homemade/hacked ballast is also not something I'm comfortable with. I'm good with machining and fabrication, not with electronics.

Thanks for your input,
Dr Diabolical
