I have a Nitecore D2 Digicharger. When I put my Energizer NiMH cells in when the appliance I use the in stops working, the charger reads the cell voltage as 1.2v. When the charger is done, the cells read 1.5v. Is this normal for NiMH cells, or is the calibration on my charger just off a few tenths?

That's normal. When the cell is resting, 1.20v means it's about 90% discharged. 1.35v means it's full. However, when a cell just finishes charging, it can be 1.50v to as high as 1.60v. It won't stay that high for long, and within a few minutes be down to about 1.45v. Then a few days later, around 1.35v. That's normal. Consider anything about 1.35v to be "excess voltage", but it doesn't provide much more capacity.
