I have a Milwaukee M12 Heated Hoodie. I am looking for an additional battery for it. The OEM Milwaukee 48-11-2430 is expensive. Would a knock off battery be worthwhile or should I stick with the original? If I go with an after-market battery, how do I know which ones would be reliable?

The battery may well have circuitry inside

not just for safety, but to make sure the device only works with those OEM batteries, looks for a handshake

Milwaukee batteries communicate with the tool to optimize performance and for testing the battery. I'd avoid aftermarket batteries. Might not work and could void warrantee on whatever you're using it for. Just look for deals on the batteries. Sometimes you can find a deal with free batteries if you buy a tool or set of tools. Home Depot does it all the time.
