:) Leave the venders alone... they make nice things... :)

Too late. Shortly after posting I spoke with Henry. We have had enough. The vendor who was holding up this run was given one of the items below (NOT a flashlight). Henry and I had already visited another vendor here who does work for the US military, and will do both a better and more timely job on what we need done. I was pushing for this for awhile now but because of the long standing relationship this other vendor had with HDS, we wanted to give them every opportunity to make it right. He didn't. Times up.
Having all the BeCu and stainless parts sitting here finished and not be able to ship because of another part is absolute BS. I've been hearing for the last 8 weeks how we will have the part we need finished in a week. That vendor is done. Put a fork in him... or an axe.

My best estimate at this point is 6 weeks. Henry and I toured the new vendors facility and I was quite impressed... I also impressed upon them that timeliness is extremely important to me.

Hogo, thanks for the update.

Nice!! Who's the maker of the ones on the upper right and middle right? Looks like the same maker, very cool design.

Karesuando Kniven. Small Swedish company up in the arctic circle. Not made for wood chopping as much as for game processing and bushcraft.
The inlay is reindeer antler and the knob is moose antler. The heads are Swedish stainless steel (Sandvic 12c27). Birch handles on both. Small one is the Una (the smallest axe they make) and the other is the Stoera (the largest axe they make).

They make some absolutely beautiful works of art. I've been looking at their knives for a long time asking myself why I haven't bought "one" yet.

It took me a few moments to realize there were HDS flashlights in the photo, too.

I often put shameless product placements in my photos.

One just sometimes has to look hard to see them...

Always wanted a Granfors small forest axe...

Out of all the axes... that is the one I would pick if I could have only one.

"Hey, Henry, look what I did!"

Henry walks away slowly shaking his head.

Regarding the axe in the very top of the pic. I understand why those were originally made with a round handle, but other than historical reason... why make them now with one? It's GOT to want to turn as you use it.

I don't have a HDS, but the thread title got me.

Out of all the axes... that is the one I would pick if I could have only one.
Out of the Wildlife Hatchet, Small Forest Axe, and Scandinavian Forest Axe, the Small Forest Axe is the one I kept. 'Course I didn't need any of them. Kind of an offshoot of the old knife hobby. Bought a few GBs, cleaned up and rehandled a couple of old Plumb Boy Scout hatchets that were gifted to friends, and moved on to other things.

Always wanted a Granfors small forest axe...
If you want to scratch that itch with a lightly used one, hit me up. Mine just hangs in the tool cabinet...
