Hello everyone ... Today the pleasure of trying the Acebeam L35: one of the latest models born in the Acebeam house capable of delivering 5000 lumens to the Turbo with a shot of 480 meters.

The body and the materials
The Acebeam L35 is a 21700 format flashlight with a large head and tapered body. It is particularly comfortable in the hand, grips very well and is also quite compact. The presence of the cigar grip further increases its grip and facilitates the operations of using the tail switch when held between the fingers like a cigarette.

Bundled with the L35 comes a Nylon holster with hook and loop closure that allows for safe transport. On the back of the same we find a plastic D ring and a belt loop with velcro.

The optical compartment is made up of a single XHP70.2 LED with 5000k Neutral White tint, a particular TIR lens covered in turn by a thick lens with anti-reflective treatment.

A small protective film will need to be removed on first use.
The bezel in brushed steel, laced and protects the lens well.

Optionally, the Acebeam L35 is sold equipped with a LED called "Lattice Power P70", which is a decupulated LED and which allows, compared to the large XHP70.2 HD (5000 lumen, 57600cd-460m), to have a slightly higher shooting (81225 cd -570 m) but a slightly lower maximum output (4300 lumens).

The construction of the Acebeam L35 is impeccable: the materials are of quality, the thicknesses are abundant. The anodization is slightly opaque, pleasant to the touch.

The small millings in the central part of the body, as well as the knurled treatment at the tailcap and on the head, increase grip.

The belt clip arrives already installed on the flashlight. It is quite small but still guarantees excellent grip on pockets and clothes.

Near the head we find the side switch in non-protruding metal and a small status LED set between the thick dissipation fins.

The switch is particularly reactive, when pressed it emits a muffled click. The status LED lights up green and red to indicate the amount of battery charge.

There is no USB charging interface on the flashlight but it is the custom 21700 battery supplied that has it near the positive pole. The cell capacity shown on the label is 5100mAh.

The charging port is USB-C type even if the charging speed never exceeds 1 Ampere of absorbed current. This means that to charge the cell supplied, using the micro USB-C port it will take about 5 or 6 hours. It is however possible to charge the cell in any high charger in complete safety and with significantly higher currents.

As there is no charging interface on the body of the flashlight (usually a weak point for water and dirt infiltrations), the Acebeam L35 is water resistant according to the IP68 standard and submersible up to 5 meters deep.

Square cut threads are very smooth and well lubricated. The body of the L35 is made with a double tube design to ensure very high strength. On the head side, the threads are not anodized, while on the tailcap side, yes: physical lockout of the interface is therefore allowed with the classic quarter turn.

The contacts with the battery are guaranteed by two thick and golden springs placed at the tail and at the tailcap. The circuitry is visible.

In the tail we have a large and comfortable mechanical rubber switch that allows you to turn the flashlight on / off and use the Momentary On.

Given the protrusion of the tail switch, the L35 cannot be used in tailstanding.
On the cigar grip there is a small hole that allows you to connect laynard or small carabiners to the torch.

User interface
The Acebeam L35 has a simple and intuitive user interface managed by two switches. The output levels are 5 normal (Moonlight, Low, Mid1, Mid2, High) + Strobo and Turbo.
The Memory Mode allows you to memorize the last level used to propose it to the user at the next power on: the Moonlight, Turbo and Strobo levels are excluded from the memorization.
On the side, next to the side switch, there is a status LED that returns information on the battery charge status and lights up


  • Green: charge greater than 30%
  • Constant Red: charge between 10 and 30%
  • Flashing Red: charge less than 10%

From Light Off

  • Full click on the tail switch: direct access to the Turbo
  • Partial click on the tail switch: Momentary On on the Turbo
  • Long click on the side switch: Direct access to Moonlight mode
  • Double click on the side switch: direct access to the Turbo
  • Triple click on the side switch: direct access to the Strobo
  • Long pressure side switch (5 seconds): electronic lockout activation / deactivation

From Light On

  • Single click on the side switch: Off
  • Double click on the side switch: Turbo
  • Triple click on the side switch: Strobo

Output and runtime

  • Turbo: 5000 lm declared(measured 5900 lm) – 1h15min
  • High: 1500 lm declared(measured 1750 lm) – 1h30min
  • Mid2: 650 lm declared(measured 750 lm) – 4h
  • Mid1: 200 lm declared(measured 250 lm) – 12h45min
  • Low: 70 lm declared(measured 70 lm) – 33h30min
  • Moonlight: 1lm declared(measured 1 lm) – 12d
  • Strobe: 1650 lm declared(measured - lm) – 2h30min

Following the runtime schemes for the Turbo and High levels: By turning on the flashlight at the Turbo level, the output is greater than that declared by the motherboard and is around 6000 lumens for only the first seconds, about 5500 lumens after 30 seconds from ignition until it settles at about 1700 lumens after about one minute. The output remains constant until the battery is completely discharged which occurs after about 90 minutes.

The test performed on the High level varies slightly compared to the case discussed above: in fact the flashlight turns on on the high level with an output of about 1800 lumens, the brightness remains almost constant until the complete discharge of the cell.

During the runtime tests on the High and Turbo level, the flashlight reached high temperatures: it is unthinkable to be able to hold it normally in your bare hand in these conditions.
In all medium-low levels the discharge curve is perfectly flat. The adjustment of this Acebeam pleasantly surprised me!


Beam, Tint and Beamshots
The Acebeam beam is wide and well focused, tending to shooting. Lighting from 200-300 meters away using the Turbo is not a problem at all. The color is neutral, pleasant. No strange beam artifacts are visible, the light color is uniform

Yes,, it has springs in the tail & head, so flattops are good to go!

EDIT & retested:: from the Moon mode, you can press in the side switch for a second to cycle though the four normal modes again without turning having Off/On.
Moon & Turbo are considered special modes. Double press side switch = Turbo,, Press & hold side switch for a second = Moon mode.

Because of the interesting optic, there really is not a sharp cutoff of spill beam. It effectively tapers off smoothly, it's truly impressive.
Plus, there is no 'doughnut hole' in hotspot because of a texture to the inner part of optic.

Weeks back,, I said it could be light of the year because it's so different, in a good way.


Moon mode, in my opinion is closer to 2~3 lumens,, but not more than that = Great for a huge emitter.
I'll say it here too, high cri.:)

The inner texturing of the optic smooths out any preconceived tint differences, the L35 is far more impressive in person.
also,, tint is closer to 4500K by my eye

I never give gravity to a negative comment w/o that person actually owning (that's for Am@zon)

The L35 voltage cutoff: for the light to go out is 2.95V, using a bare Samsung 50E flattop.

Like stated by lock , the voltage light will show green, red, then flashing red, then cutoff.
the red voltage light isn't super bright, but it's there.

The L35 is a flooder, and the L18 is a narrow thrower with three times the intensity at max. If both are aimed at the same subject/distance, at a fixed exposure, the L35 will appear super faint or the L18 will come out heavily overexposed. Not sure how useful such a beamshots comparison would be.

At similar lumen levels, the L18 has almost 20x more intensity per lumen.
