Default Wurkkos WK30 - Any dowside going with 21700 instead of 26650s?

Just got a Wurkkos WK30. The standard battery is a 26650 but the light can take 21700s and 18650s.

I want to buy extra batteries but am thinking of going 21700 since that seems to be the way that newer lights are going. I've been looking at a couple Fenix lights like the PD36R that uses 21700 and I'd rather have batteries that are not specific to just one light.

Any downside going with 21700 instead of 26650s for my WK30?

The few 21700's I have from Nitcore and Acebeam have protection circuitry, some with charging ports, and some with proprietary design (although Nitecore's design should fit in my Acebeams but I don't know if they have high enough amps to power all of the modes). The length is longer with the circuitry, even more so with the charging port. Similarly, they might not work without button tops or something added to stick out on the positive end. I would double check the overall length of the 21700's and make sure they fit in your 26650.

I'd also be careful to get higher amp rated 21700's, as some of the newer high lumen flashlights require 10-30amps continuous for access to all of the modes. You might lose some usability or experience UI bugs of the higher lumen lights if the generic 21700's aren't rated high enough even if they fit.

Similar mAh, so it's a wash there.

Be careful on a 21700 in some lights really designed for a 26650, because you don't want to squish a 21700 into it.
...it would be the same as a too short battery tube (which is a pet peeve of mine)

I use both cells, both have super performance.
