Lithium-ion is the prolific battery technology in use nowadays. Li-ion batteries boast higher energy density, and lower self-discharge rate than other rechargeable batteries. At the cutting edge of battery technology, what do you think future batteries will look like?

Some experts think the next 10 years will continue to be lithium-ion dominated. It's going to take a long time for its productivity and technological maturity level. Other more efficient materials and construction techniques are also being explored, including Samsung's graphene ball cathode technology and metal air systems, but solid state batteries are seen as the future by many people. Because of higher stability of using a solid electrolyte, solid state batteries can use cathodes with higher potential energy and anodes of solid lithium, which could significantly increase the amount of energy they can store. This kind of battery can be smaller, lighter, more efficient.

In addition to using on common devices, such as flashlights, electric cars, batteries may also be put to new uses in the future. We might see them appear on construction sites, in hospitals, to replace diesel generators, to be deployed in small medical implants...

"...to be deployed in small medical implants..." ...to be implanted inside my brain to give it a much needed power boost.
