Thread: Connection not private warning

  1. #1

    Default Connection not private warning

Using chrome on an iPhone all of a sudden there was a "connection not private" warning.

When I log out I can look around without issue. Log back in and get same warning. Updated chrome.

    Anybody else having this issue?
Posting this from the CPF apple app.

edit: also get the warning in Safari. I guess the security certificate expired?

    Same. Quoting doesn't work properly.
I apologize that this letter is so long; I did not have time to write a short letter

It is working normal for me now.

It did say something about a certificate expiring. On another note I was suddenly not getting anymore junkmail so I deleted outlook and reinstalled it. I doubt that had anything to do with anything on my end unless shutting off auto sync everything thing played a role.

Anyway it works normal on my chrome using an iPhone 8 now. It was just weird the way I was able to post, then I clicked on a thread to make a post and "wham!" not private pops up.

This happened to me also on a desktop. I set an exception in my browser and I'm in again, although it's stating thaT some portions of the site (images) are not secure. I suspect an ad server's certificate expired...?

it should be in a matter or minutes once the certificate is renewed and applied to the server, and the warning should go away.

    Default Connection not private warning

Welp the "not private" is back
(using the app to write this)

Aaaaaaaand 8 minutes later I'm writing this on chrome.

So PW/RD are saying an expired certificate for an ad could be causing this?

it's the site domain certificate that's expire (3rd May 2021), because the server is serving content via https channel and a valid SSL certificate is required for this. Since it's a domain validated certificate, once it's renewed and applied to the site, the warning should go away in the next request, entire process could be done in few minutes. However, if it's OV or EV certificate, then it could take from 1 to 3 days (EV can take up to 5 days) for it to get issued and updated.

had the same, "The certificate for www.candlepowerforums.com expired on 03/05/2021.

    Error code: SEC_ERROR_EXPIRED_CERTIFICATE"

The Underground isn`t affected, and if you`re using Firefox you can make your way past it and get in anyway (as I have done to get here).

Why did you blur out the certificate issuer? Anyone examining the certificate will get that information, it's not a secret or anything.
