M61T with the high-low ring is a perfect EDC. Great runtime on these Pannys 3500 mAh cells (unprotected!)

about 19 lumens on low.

compact. Have the Malkoff clickie on it for now but tempted to use the Z41 tailcap.

My work light is a MD3/M91T. My edc for work is a MD1/M61T. I did have my 61T in a MD2 it's much more compact with a Z41 on it.

good point about Z41 tailcap.

It is an incredibly compact light and the lumens are astounding given the size.

really not much bigger than a 1x18500 or a 1x123 light. Certainly more comfortable to hold.

I like the Malkoff "T" models. M61T has a higher lux, greater punch than the M61 with about the same lumens. M91T I run in a MD4 body for greater runtime. I love the low mode. They are spaced just right.

Re: M91T - are Malkoff lumens overstated? i.e. 900? I thought our local tester here concluded it was closer to 650-700.

A lot of his tests were done with older unit's. Before gene upgraded them.

Pretty sure the new batch of 91's put out 600-700 on a single 18650.

I'm still learning which heads can go on which bodies, and what the voltage range is for the heads.
Then learning what battery size options work in those bodies. I didn't know about an 18350 until Thermal mentioned it.
Some of Malkoff's listings do not give the voltage or compatibility.

I see. It would be interesting to determine which M91T I have. I was under the impression that M91T required 2 cells to even run. Its voltage specs are from 5V-12V or such. Perhaps the latest-greatest has revised the lower boundary of voltage?

Gene changed drivers a few years back. Damn thing will run on a 3 volt primary now.

With the M61T if you want hi/lo you have to go with a Malkoff host and his hi/lo ring. That dropin won't fit in anything else.

My Gen I M61T resides in this set up, giving over 6 hours of run time on a pair of IMR 18650 cells at 450 lumens/12k candela output (no high/low ring). Oveready 5mm spacer and full O-ring bumper kit on the front and rear of the cell pack. Total weight = 13 ounces, with balance point just behind the 1-inch shaft collar;

My plan --which is a mixture from others' ideas -- is to use the following components: M61T high/low head + Mega MD1 body + Oveready ZeroRez Shorty tailcap + 18500 2300mAh battery

Interesting.

I've tried a lot of Malkoff modules, some I totally didn't dig, some I loved. I seem to focus on M61T and M91T. They are not the greatest but more practical than others. For example Hound Dog exceeds M61T in every category yet M91T you can carry while the HD is a pain.
Except runtime of course. 4 hours on 2x3500mAh cells. On high.

But back to M61T.

On low you get a very decent almost 30 lumens, with a high lux which makes it seem brighter than it really is. On high, the lumens are similar to M61 but they are more focused. I think "T" stands for Throw but if you substitute Turbo or something, that fits in just as well.
