Hello everyone.

I've been testing the above two cell types over a long term test for the past 9 months, and thought I'd share my findings. The test is actually going to run for a year, but I'll post it now after 9 months, and update this in August when the 12 months test is up.

My rationale: The main reason I did this was to ascertain if there is any difference between Ikea LADDA and Eneloop Pro. This may be academic now, as it appears that Ikea have stopped, or are stopping the LADDA batteries as we know them (light grey, 2450mAH), but the tests are still relevant to anyone who has them, or has managed to source a collection of them before they disappear. It is of course, still relevant because Eneloop Pros are still available.

I tested 2x batches of each. The Eneloops are not new, but lightly used. The LADDA were brand new at time of testing, so the LADDA tests also include a capacity test from new.

Both types are then tested after approximately 50 days. The reason for this is because I have noticed the AVERAGE time span between charging and usage, for ME, is around 50 days.

The second set have been tested over a longer period, using individual cells from a set of 4, at 2 months, 6 months, 9 months, and 12 months.

One thing that became apparent, was that the majority of charge loss occurs very quickly (in the first month), and from then on, self discharge losses becomes less.

While not a scientific test, it IS a practical test, and one most will be interested in: How much charge, measured in mAH do these cells have left after x amount of time, measured in a way that makes sense, and it measurable by the vast majority of users.

This confirms again that the majority of lost charge occurs in the first few weeks, and from then on, very little over 12 months.

Interesting results. I have noticed that the Eneloop Pro seem to drop to a lower voltage after charging, as opposed to the original white Eneloops and "Duraloops".

The Pro will fall to about the 1.30v range, whereas the others will be closer to 1.4v. Doesn't seem to affect capacity though. It's just curious that they seem to run at a bit lower voltage.

All NiMH will settle a bit after they're removed from the charger. Some chargers terminate at 1.47v (Maha C9000) and others terminate at 1.51v (Opus BT-3400,) so it depends?

Also the health of a particular battery comes into play, regarding voltage sag.
