New Fenix PD36 TAC Tactical Flashlight--3000 Lumens!

The most anticipated Fenix flashlight of 2021 is almost here. The Fenix PD36 TAC flashlight is a compact LED flashlight that's about 5.5 inches in length and comes with a pocket clip making it easy to carry with you. This is the perfect flashlight for law enforcement, security, and tactical users. The PD36 TAC has an impressive output of 3000 lumens! This is one bright little beast of a flashlight. With its maximum beam distance of 898 feet, this beam will allow you to see objects far into the distance. Not only is this flashlight extremely bright, but it also has many excellent features that are perfect for anyone looking for a tactical flashlight. The PD36TAC LED flashlight operates using a single 21700 battery.

    Wow, 3000 "LUENS".

Nice price of less than $100! The stats on your website say 3000 lumens for 1.5 hours, but the runtime graph on the same page shows 3000 lumens for a minute or less. Which is correct?

    Graph is kinda disapointing.
This huge flashlight cannot sustain 1000lm+ for more than an hour unlike other competitiors.

    Thank you for catching "luems."

We have sent the question concerning the runtimes to the Fenix engineers. I'm sure they have a explanation for what the graph is indicating. We will post their answer here.
    Thanks!

Here is the answer from the Fenix engineer:

"This is a common question. For those compact sized lights with high lumens, we have to find the balance between the lumens, heat dissipation and runtime.

We had a notice on the specs graphics. At the bottom of that page it says "*The Turbo output is measured in a total of runtime including output at reduced levels due to temperature or protection mechanism in the design." And all the specs we put meet the ANSI/PLATO FL1 standards.

The reason why 3000 lumens won't stay around for long is that the heat generated at the level of 3000lm will activate the built-in heat protection mechanism that automatically reduces output.

Please let us know if you have any additional questions."

Thx for the answer but my concern was why HIGH cannot stay 1000lumens at least throught battery life (LVP)?
Turbo is reasonable but competition won’t drop bellow 1400-1600lm after temp step down.
