Hi-

Welcome to the group.

To give a helpful answer to your question we need to know more info. For starters, why have you narrowed your pick down to these three lights? That will help us understand the thought process you went through when deciding on these. Size, specific use, coolness factor, batteries you want or don't want to use, emergency use or not, etc etc.

All three lights are decent lights.

What? A Newbie who's yet to purchase a SureFire? This is atypical of our latest batch. Just buy the damn SF & be done with it...and then let us know how you like it (I don't have one yet).

Nevermind. If you can answer Double A's ??? we can help.

Welcome to here Damelas, hope you have fun!

This is VERY VERY dependent on what you want in A: Size B: Output C: Battery Type.

A decent light that uses two CR123A batteries is the Streamlight Twin Task 2L. Useful LED light and a decent Xenon light in one package.

If you want something to carry on your belt, get a Surefire G2, then get a Garrity/Ozark Trail 2AA light from Walmart to harvest the clickie and holster from. (The TT2L will also ride in that holster.)

If you want pocket sized EDC, I can't really help you.

In the Streamlight TWIN TASK line are also 3AA, 3C, and 2D lights if common batteries turn you on. A Kroll clickie will screw into the 3AA light, allowing it to be in a particular mode upon activation. The Twin Task line is almost certainly the best Bang for the Buck lights available!

Hmmm... as I think about it more.... at Target you can find Dorcy 1AA 3LED, 2AA 4LED, and 1AAA 1LED lights for pretty cheap. The 2AA ain't shabby! But neither is the 1AA! (for that matter the 1AAA >also available at Walmart< is no slouch!).

Define your needs for us, and we'll put you on the best light for your needs.

WELCOME to CPF!

Well first i need a strong light that i can carry on my belt.small size.i need it for work , so i'll be carrying this light everyday.Maybe a rechargeable light. i work security at a casino, so i come up on alot of people doing bad things in the parking lot. i picked these two lights because of size.

Welcome back, now we can offer some more suggestions.

A rechargeable may be a good idea. I normally suggest the Stramlight Twin Tasks to a newbie. But for your needs the Twin tasks are out because of the alternate switching arrangement (led/Incandescent) but we didn't know that until you posted the light was for security related work.

Streamlight rechargeble Stinger and a SF E2e would be my optimal combination.

Money may be an issue here so I would suggest the E2e first. It is SIGNIFICANTLY smaller than the 6P. It is much easier to carry discreetly all the time, always with you and brighter than a 4D maglight. When you go on rounds in the parking lot or wherever grab the Stinger.

Although some may feel I have this backwards and suggest the Stinger first, it is not really an "always with you" light. A light is only useful when you have it when you need it (duh). I can assure you, the E2e is one light you will have with you, the Stinger will only be grabbed when you need it.

Another suggestion that maybe some others can address is using rechargeable batteries in a small light. Some may suggest this is the best of both worlds. Personally I would not rely on my only light being a rechageable, without having a 123 cell light has a backup.

Welcome to CPF Damelas!

Double A's made a great suggestion. The E2E is small and bright and light enough to always be on your belt. However, a rechargeable is going to be more practical and economical if you often patrol dark parking lots, or work night shift. If you implement this two light setup, I'd even recommend the Stinger HP, which is brighter than the regular (SL says up to 15,000 cp for Stinger, 40,000 for Stinger HP). If you aren't going to always carry it, the extra three quarters of an inch and 2 ounces won't bother you at all.

However, you may not always be near your desk or vehicle to get the Stinger and put it away. THen you are left with one light, always carried. The E2E is still a great light (bright, small form factor, durable HA finish), but if you use if often, the pile of dead batteries will mount quickly.

Another suggestion is to get a Pila, like the GL2, which can either utilize rechargeables or lithium 123s. Then you could use it as a rechargeable on a daily basis and carry two 123s on your belt as backup power source. The Pilas even have an LED in the tailcap! In addition, there is a 3x123 Pila, too.

You started the thread with the SF 6P and PM6, both are nice lights. That said, I think the SF G2Z might be better for daily use than the 6P, because the G2Z has a nitrolon polymer finish and Pyrex lens (so you can use a p61 with impunity). If cost is a big factor, the PM6 is a contender, but I'm not taken with the aluminum finish, seems like it won't take much abuse. And if the casino will pay for batteries, you may not be need a rechargeable, tho having a gadzillion dead lithiums ain't optimal, either.

Welcome again, and let us know what you choose!

The lights you mentioned are both good. (I don't own either of them. Yet!) You might consider the Surefire G2 (great inexpensive incandescent) or L4 (great LED.) You could get a Pila Battery & lamp for the G2 or just the Pila battery for the L4 if you want to go rechargeable. If you really want rechargeable you might go with one of the Pila flashlights. I've seen the Pila stuff at http://www.jsburlys.com but have no personal experience with them.

If you choose to go rechargable Stinger, I recommend a standard Stinger. I can carry a normal one on my belt, but I traded away an HP as it dug into my spare tire. Standard Stinger back pockets pretty good too! And has an EXCELLENT beam!

A G2 with a clickie switch harvested from a Garrity/Ozark Trail 2AA light from Walmart is a damn fine 2x123A light.

A Streamlight TT2L when modded to take a Kroll isn't bad either (it is my EDC light - MAIN EDC - with Infinity Ultra and ARC AAA as backups) although it isn't as bright or tightly focused as the two lights you mentioned.

I find the Pelican M6 kind of heavy to EDC (and I don't like the switch arrangement).

So I'd go Stinger and G2 if I were in your shoes. MAYBE E2E as it will pocket - I do not have one so I can't tell if it will - might be better than G2. But G2 feels JUST right!

Do let us know what you decide!

Sounds like your getting closer to your picks.

As for the 6P or E2e, I would very very strongly suggest you not make a decision until you can get them both in your hands at the same time.

The E2e is more compact than the 6P, much more so. It may not appear that way if you are comparing numbers on paper but it is a much more carryable light. Or perhaps maybe get the L4.

Please compare them yourself if possible.

If you want a rechargeable that's smaller than the Stinger, you might wait a little while (month or two?) and get a Strion when it comes out. It's about the size of a 6P but uses a lithium ion rechargeable cell and is as bright as a Stinger and has about the same runtime and uses the same bulbs.

Buy the E2e, you wont regret it.

If you stick around here long enough you will end up buying it anyway, why not get it first? If you never come back here and never buy another flashlight, you know you've got one of the most well made versatle (Led heads, 25L, 65L lamps) all around best lights available.

I agree with Double A, the E2e is a well made sweet piece. The best thing about the Surefires is the versatility. You can opt for a couple different LED heads, tail caps, and filters. When I first received mine , I was shocked at the "compact size" , but don't let the size fool you. It is like carrying sunshine in your pocket. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Great choice on the UltraStinger /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif. Of the hundreds of lights that I own, it's still one of my favorites - great throw. Mine is mounted in the 12v charger right next to seat in my truck. I'ld feel lost without it. Of course I also carry the SF M4 for backup and the SF L4 for EDC.
