I saw a beamshot of a green Surefire L1 somewhere, (I think maybe ledmuseum.com) and it got me curious about the various colored L1s. Are there any owners of other-than-white colored Surefire L1s, and if so, how do you like them?

If you want red, red/orange, amber, green or cyan, go for it if they have it.
The red/orange is rated for 55 lumens instead of 25 for the white /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ooo.gif Yes that's bright. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif
Otherwise, try to find one of the bigger models with the newer, more advanced lux3 emitters in Green, cyan, or especially, blue.

I have a white and a red L1. The red L1 seems to be a lot brighter than the white L1.

The red L1 that I had, had a lot of rings and artifacts in the beam. I have a white L1 and it's got a nice beam, I chose the best one out of 3. It's brighter than my mag sandwich and ARC LSL-P.
