Has anyone tried removing a incan lamp from a MN02, and replacing it with an LED? I know it would be direct drive, but I was wondering if would even work. If I did try this could anyone recommend a decent candidate for maximum run time, and brightness? Any guesses on what they would be?
Thanks

One user of CPF created a drop-in for the SureFire E2 that used a Nichia NSPW500 LED instead of an incandescent bulb.

Here's a picture of the retrofit bulb, compared to a standard E2 incandescent lamp assembly.

And here's a picture of the retrofit LED lamp assembly's beam on the test target.
I did not have a photometer when I was loaned this in 2001, but it's approximately as bright as a Photon II or other direct-drive lithium coin cell flashlight.

I tried searching CPF for the appropriate thread because I know it exists, but I could not find it. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/jpshakehead.gif
